Zoo and Aquarium Technical Support
IZP provides technical support to new and developing zoos and aquariums through capacity building and skills transfer programmes undertaken on-site, ensuring the best use of local resources and the maximum impact.

We offer specialist knowledge and advice on:
- Animal husbandry guidelines
- Species management protocols
- Zoo staff training
- Aquarium staff training
- Animal diets
- Veterinary management programmes
- Animal handling
- Enrichment programmes
- Species conservation programmes
- Research programmes
- Collection planning
- Records management
- Health and safety protocols
- Conservation education programmes
- Zoo and Aquarium master planning
- Zoo and Aquarium management
These programmes help zoos and aquariums reach their goals in wildlife conservation through improved animal husbandry and veterinary care, and through effective public awareness of the issues involved in wildlife conservation.

Working with you IZP is able to undertake a review of your staff and facilities to help you plan and implement a programme of staff training and development. This would be carried out in your own zoo or aquarium to ensure your staff are best prepared to work within their own environment. It is also possible to provide specialist training in ZSL London Zoo or ZSL Whipsnade Zoo as considered the best option.
ZSL also offers a Masters degree for vets and biologists wanting to work in a zoo environment in collaboration with the Royal Veterinary College.
