ZSL London Zoo can come to your school!
Liven up the gloomy winter by booking an outreach visit! Our Outreach Officers can visit London schools (within 45 minute drive of the zoo) and deliver fun and interactive sessions about conservation and the environment.
In this exciting new programme at ZSL London Zoo, sponsored by the Mayor of London, we are able to visit state schools in the following London boroughs, only:
Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Islington, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Kensington and Chelsea, Newham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Westminster.

Reception and Key Stage 1
Hairy & Scaly
Touch a zebra and stroke a crocodile! Explore the textures of different body coverings of mammals and reptiles in this hands-on and lively session. (Also suitable for Nursery)
Caring for Animals
This session explores the needs common to all living things and encourages a caring attitude to animals.
It's Alive!
This fun session compares a live animal and a toy one to help children discover the difference between ‘alive’, ‘not alive’ and ‘once alive’. Children will also find out more about how animals (and us) move, feed and grow.
Eye See
Why do animals need to make sense of the world around them and why do they need to see? This session focuses on the sense of sight and is an enjoyable animal-related extension to the topic of ‘Senses’. (Suitable for Years 1 – 3)

Key stage 2
Talking Rubbish
What happens after we put our rubbish in the bin? Where does it go and what happens to it? This session focuses on how reducing and reusing waste, recycling and disposing of litter sensibly can help protect wild animals and the environment.
Action for Animals
Have you helped a wild animal recently? Not sure? We will show you how you can! This session looks at animals we encounter in our daily life and how we can help them.
Be a Zoo Keeper!
Step into the welly boots of a keeper and find out about what they do! Discover how and why zoos help protect animals and learn about some endangered species.
Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?
From fur coats to disappearing forests, we explore some of the reasons why animals are endangered. This interactive session helps children understand that we can each make a difference to wildlife.

Climate Change Action: Push the Button
What is climate change & why should we care about it? Will turning off a light switch make any difference? An interactive upbeat presentation explaining how climate change affects people and animals, and getting students involved in sorting it out.
Rainforests & Ringtones
Do gorillas need mobiles, and is it really good to talk? A session that shows how our lives (and our mobiles!) affect animals and environments around the world without us noticing.

Animal X
Murder in the forest! But who was the killer? Study clues from real-life zoo scientists, from tracks to poo, to solve a conservation murder mystery.
Role of a Good Zoo (A Level/Post-16)
What do zoos really do? Using current case studies from ZSL, this session helps students to understand the role of zoos in breeding, conservation, research and education.
